The University of Kentucky says the Department of Homeland Security has revoked F-1 visas for a “small number” of international graduate students. F-1 visas allow international students to enter the U.S. to study at colleges, high schools or other academic institutions.

UK President Eli Capilouto shared the development in an online letter to campus. He says school officials have reached out to the affected students.

Capilouto said in the letter that the university will always comply with the law, and the school is working to understand federal policies. Around 1,300 international students attend UK. It’s unknown exactly how many of those students were affected.
