The University of Kentucky’s men’s basketball team making a deep run in March Madness means Lexington is preparing to handle celebrations.

City officials say they’re reminding residents to keep any celebrations peaceful. The Kentucky High School Athletic Association’s Boys’ Basketball Tournament is also taking place downtown this weekend.

The Lexington Police Department expects downtown to be busy, and recommends caution when driving. Road closures or busy traffic are possible.

The UK police department is also increasing patrols in and around campus.

The city is also asking residents to keep the streets free of trash and debris. Code Enforcement will be checking for violations, including excessive trash and outdoor furniture from property owners.
