Wednesday night's "people's town hall" in the Lyric Theatre is the third town hall in five days in Kentucky's 6th Congressional District — and the second dubbed a people's town hall.

The Kentucky Democratic Party and former Democratic Congressman John Yarmuth of Louisville will hold what’s billed as a “People’s Town Hall” Wednesday night at Lexington’s Lyric Theatre. Morgan Eaves, the party’s executive director, said the aim is to ensure voters in the 6th Congressional District are being heard.

“They have a lot of concerns. They're scared. They're unsure about what's going to happen with their health care, with their Social Security, with their veterans’ benefits, and even with public education.”

Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District is the setting and subject of three town halls in five days. Saturday’s featured a Kentucky Theatre full of folks upset about actions by the Trump Administration and Congressman Andy Barr’s support of them. Monday night, Barr held his own tele-town hall. Eaves said she’s not concerned about town hall fatigue.

“I am excited that folks are participating in these great acts of civic resistance, and I hope that continues, because we need more people involved in our democracy.”

The “people’s town hall” is scheduled to begin at 6 and last two hours.
