Lexington is honoring its institutions of higher education this month as part of its yearlong 250th anniversary celebration.
Transylvania University, Bluegrass Community and Technical College and the University of Kentucky are holding open houses for the public as part of the yearlong celebration. Those open houses are meant to attract students, but also to recognize the impact higher ed has had on Lexington.
Mayor Linda Gorton credited the colleges for much of the city’s appeal.
“We have a very highly educated populace compared to most cities, making our workforce attractive to local employers and to companies around the world looking for a new home.”
Those open houses will take place at the end of the month. BCTC will host their open house March 27, Transy will host theirs the 28th and 29th and UK will host theirs on the 30th. BCTC will also award a $3,000 scholarship during their open house.
