The Lexington Parking Authority has approved a deal with the City of Lexington to restore previous, longer hours for free metered parking.

The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council held their swearing-in ceremony this past weekend to kick off the start of this year’s session.

The urban county council comprises 12 members who each serve two-year terms.

Among those sworn in include four new council members: District 7’s Joseph Hale, District 1’s Tyler Morton, District 4’s Emma Curtis and District 12's Hil Boone.

Curtis is the body’s first transgender councilmember, and Morton is the youngest councilmember in city history.

They’ll join councilmembers Chuck Ellinger, James Brown, Shayla Lynch, Hannah LeGris, Liz Sheehan, Denise Gray, Amy Beasley, Whitney Elliott Baxter, Dave Sevigny, Jennifer Reynolds and Vice Mayor Dan Wu to round out the group.

The urban county council will kick off its first meetings of the year this week.
