Lexington mayor Linda Gorton announces the city's NYE festivities at a press conference Thursday.

The city of Lexington is hosting a New Year’s Eve celebration to ring in its 250th anniversary at the Central Bank Center.

The festivities are part of the Lex250 marketing campaign, which includes events celebrating the city throughout 2025.

Mayor Linda Gorton says it’s a way to get residents out and about.

“I've had a lot of people say to me, ‘You know, I don't stay up till midnight.’ And I say, well, this year is the year you need to do that, even if you have to come in your pajama bottoms, right?” Gorton said.

Activities for children, including an African drumming ensemble and programming from the children’s museum, will be held inside the center from 5 to 8 p.m. Live music, food trucks and outdoor bars will be outside on the concourse starting at 9.
