Presidential historian and award-winning author Douglas Brinkley will be the featured speaker at the University of Kentucky’s annual Wendell H. Ford Public Policy Lecture Tuesday. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Singletary Center for the Arts and is free and open to the public. Ron Zimmer is director of the Martin School of Public Policy and Administration, which is hosting the lecture.

“We feel lucky to have him. He's been in high demand and been on MSNBC and CNN and so far so forth in this presidential cycle, we thought he could bring a perspective to this presidential election. It's an interesting one.”

Zimmer called this year’s presidential election “interesting” for several reasons.

“We have a former president running for president again. We have a president that dropped out midsummer. You have a vice president stepping in. So there's all these twists and turns, and it'd be interesting to hear from a historian who could bring perspective to that.”

The lecture will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Al Cross featuring Brinkley and two UK political science professors.
