Buildings on Eastern Kentucky University’s campus are under a boil water advisory as they get hooked up to a new main water line.

The new line will travel along Lancaster Avenue, from Turner Gate to Crabbe Street on campus.

Bryan Makinen, EKU’s chief campus operations officer, says RIchmond Utilities is currently testing the water quality in buildings along the avenue to make sure there’s no contaminants.

“We are taking samples, and we're taking multiple samples in each building as well,” Makinen said. “We're looking after the safety of our community, proving the absence of any bacteria being present.”

As of Monday evening, buildings under boil advisory include:

  • Cammack
  • Roark
  • Memorial Science
  • Coates
  • Jones
  • Blanton House
  • Foster
  • Campbell
  • Burrier
