Lexington police says National Avenue fatal shooting remains an active investigation

Stu Johnson

Lexington police say they are still actively investigating the homicide and shooting that took place at El Cid on National Avenue. Investigators continue to ask for any witness information.

The early Saturday shooting resulted in the death of 31-year-old Antoine Clay and injuries to five others at the establishment. Police detectives continue to connect with businesses and residents in the area to follow up on leads.

The investigation suggests the restaurant was busy just after midnight at the time of the shooting. Investigators are asking anyone who was at El Cid that night who may have taken a video or picture to check their footage.

The Lexington Herald is reporting El Cid has been evicted from the Warehouse Block. The owner of the property said he was unaware the restaurant had been operating as a club.
