Russell Armstead, the executive director of Lexington's Veterans Affairs Healthcare System, said Tuesday night's virtual town hall will feature information about a wide range of VA programs for vets and their families.

Lexington’s Veterans Affairs Healthcare System is holding a virtual town hall Tuesday night for all Kentucky vets and family members. Executive Director Russell Armstead said information about a wide array of programs and resources will be shared – including matters of life and death for Kentucky vets and their families.

“We'll spend some time talking about suicide prevention, which continues to be an issue in the veteran population. So we'll get some some information to veterans along those lines.”

Other topics will include how to enroll in the VA healthcare system, caregiver support programs and transportation for vets. Armstead said it’s part of a continuing effort to remind folks of the many services offered by the 2,400 Lexington VA employees -- and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

“We look forward to serving them every single day. We think they deserve the best and we work very, very hard to make sure that we're doing that, including sharing updated information throughout the year.”

Armstead said the townhall, which begins at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, will also include an opportunity for veterans to discuss the care they receive.
