The show must go on for some performances at the Lexington Opera House. But, a ceiling issue is creating some modifications in scheduling at the historic entertainment venue in downtown Lexington.
The Opera House is making adjustments to its event calendar to accommodate some necessary renovations to the venue’s balcony level. A news release says the changes are being made out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of its guests, artists, and staff. A third-party engineer conducted an inspection of the Opera House. The engineering firm says the facility is safe for occupancy and to host shows and concerts. But, it recommends the balcony should not be used until the balcony ceiling is more properly secured.
Trae Crowder, who postponed his show, is rescheduled for September 29th. Mary Chapin Carpenter, originally scheduled for August 12th, is canceled. All tickets purchased for that show will be refunded. Performances of “Memphis” at the Opera House, set for Thursday through Sunday, will continue as planned with seating in the first two levels only. The repairs to the balcony level ceiling could take up to three weeks.
