Lexington’s Castlewood Park will be the site of Saturday’s Lex Litter Fest. The event will include free food, prizes and information about the impact litter has on the environment. Trayvon Mason is an intern with the city who lives near Castlewood Park.
“It's just like cleaning up trash at the park, you can clean up trash around the park, at your house anywhere. And you just got to bring it to the park. And just, like get information on how to do it better.”
Lex Litter Fest was organized by members of the first Youth Environmental Academy, of which Mason is a graduate.
“Because Parks and Rec, they said Castlewood has like a big trash problem and a big needle problem. And so cleaning up that and having it look as good as Jacobsen or Masterson Station would be great.”
Mason, who’ll be a freshman at EKU this fall, said he’d like more people to visit Castlewood Park – and making it cleaner and safer will help towards that goal.
