GOP and Democrats in Fayette County choose 93rd state House seat nominees

Fayette County voters now know the party picks for a special election in November to fill the seat of 93rd District state Representative Lamin Swann, who died in May.

Fayette Democratic precinct chairs chose Adrielle Camuel, a precinct chair who recused herself from the vote, according to party Chair Karen Summers. The Fayette Republican executive committee chose Kyle Whalen, who lost to Lamin Swann last November. The district leans Democratic, as it was one of the relatively few in Kentucky won by Joe Biden in 2020. Camuel is an administrative assistant with the Fayette County School District. Whalen is the chair and chief financial officer of Back Construction.
