Contest in Lexington to re-design a Lextran bus stop

Stu Johnson

A Lextran bus stop will feature a new look in the future. The mass transit agency has announced a bus shelter design contest for a stop along Versailles Road.

The contest winner could see their design on the bus stop in front of the government building and Global Lex and earn a chance to win a $2500 cash prize. The design will be installed on the panels of the bus stop, previously known as “Bottlestop” for its hundreds of recycled Ale-8-One glass bottles.

Lextran General Manager Jill Barnett says the contest offers another chance to highlight the culture of the communities served in the County. The contest is open to anyone 18 and over who resides in Fayette County. Submissions must be received by this Saturday with the chosen artist announced the week of August seventh.
