A traffic stop in Madison County Wednesday morning led to a high-speed chase on I-75 through three counties and the discovery of a body in the suspect's vehicle.

Kentucky State Police Trooper Scottie Pennington is the public information officer for the Laurel County Post.

“While in Laurel County, the vehicle struck several Kentucky State Police cruisers. With assistance from the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, that vehicle was stopped.”

Pennington said there’s more to the investigation.

“They located what appeared to be a body in the back of the vehicle. Through further investigation, they determined the body was a female.”

The body was taken to the state Medical Examiner’s Office for identification and an autopsy. The chase and investigation shut down a portion of I-75 for several hours.
