A little more than a year after a tornado touched down in Madison County, another twister did the same Thursday morning.
For Madison County Fire Chief and interim Emergency Management Director Tim White, Thursday morning was a sense of déjà vu.
“Last year, January 1st, if you remember, we had a tornado touch down just a little further toward Dawesville, in that area.”
With tornadoes also landing in Mercer, Boyle and Henry counties that day, White said such severe weather now seems common in Kentucky. No one was injured by the Madison County twister. White said it did a mark in the Braemar neighborhood.
“Hit about four or five different homes, doing some minor to moderate damage to the rooflines and eaves, and uprooted some trees, couple of light posts, some power lines brought down.”
Area residents spent the weekend cleaning up and filing claims. Considering winds reached 100 mile per hour, White said it could have been much worse.
