The football field at Eastern Kentucky University has a new name. The university struck a naming rights deal with CG Bank. This agreement will land the university 1.15 million dollars over the course of eleven years.

Matt Roan is the athletics director for EKU. He said any kind of funding is important for the program.

“It’s critically important, in the absence of 40-50 million dollar a year in TV deals, we have to roll up our sleeves and work again with people who see value in what we do. A lot of that is alumni, that’s donors that’s friends of the institution.”

He said that will break down to around 100-thousand dollars a year.

“It’s always about what’s next, it’s how can you grow? That 100 thousand dollars plus, per year allows us to focus on facilities, student athlete support, there’s operating resources that we need to be successful, so it’s going to make a huge difference for us over this next decade.”

The University of Kentucky’s naming rights deal with Kroger in 2017 landed the S-E-C school 22-point-2 million dollars over twelve years.

EKU’s football facility will still be called Roy Kidd Stadium, but the playing surface will be called CG Bank Field.
