The regular season for the Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team didn’t go as well as the coaches and players had hoped. Eastern enters the ASUN tournament at 13 and 17. EKU Head Coach A.W. Hamilton said injuries tell part of the story.

“We’re still a good shooting team, but when we talked, when we all talked at the beginning of the year, we had an exceptional shooting team. Exceptional. Then, you take out Braxton and you take out Jannson, that’s a blow,” said Hamilton.

Colonels Braxton Beverly and Jannson Williams, both who saw more playing time earlier this season, have been out with injuries.

The Colonels enters post-season play Tuesday against Kennesaw State. While the men’s team finished the regular season under 500, EKU won Saturday over Bellarmine, the second-placed team in the ASUN. Junior Guard Cooper Robb said Eastern is ready for the tournament.

“I mean win every game. There’s not a game we don’t think we can win. Yeah we come out and dig a hole in the first half or don’t play the best. But, we still believe,” said Robb.

The first-round game of post-season play starts at 7:00 Tuesday night.
