A church in Lexington was the gathering spot for supporters of Ukraine. The crowd outside the Ukrainian Pentecostal Church swelled rapidly yesterday as community members came together for a time of prayer. Pastor Yaroslav Boyechko says his church has about a thousand members and virtually everyone has someone living in Ukraine. The country is undergoing a Russian invasion. He anticipates refugees coming to the area, but for now, the emphasis is on prayer.
“If somebody wants to support some refugees or something like that, there will be more information about that. Right now, you can support them and right now be praying to God and we be asking everyone surrounding us to pray for Ukraine,” said Boyechko.
Sam Grischek’s uncle still lives in Ukraine. He says his family has made calls and received texts. Grischek says that communication is re-assuring.
