Lexington mayor names equity officer to further racial justice recommendations

Lexington Mayor's Office

Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton has named Tiffany Michelle Brown as equity and implementation officer. She will be tasked with setting in place more recommendations by the Commission for Racial Justice and Equality.

Mayor Gorton formed the commission in 2020 to identify ways to disrupt and dismantle systemic racism in the Lexington community. The mayor said Brown will help speed up progress in implementing wide ranging recommendations.

Brown is in the process of identifying members for a permanent Commission for Racial Justice and Equality. She is also working on food insecurity issues in underserved areas of Lexington.
