Railroad crossing work closes popular Lexington connector

Lexington government

A very busy piece of roadway in Lexington will be closed off to traffic for a couple of days this week. Beginning Tuesday morning and lasting until sometime Thursday morning, a section of Waller Avenue will be closed.

The shutdown will allow for the repair work on the Norfolk Southern railroad crossing. Waller will be closed between Crescent Avenue and the Commonwealth Handy and Physical Therapy Center. Motorists can use Virginia Avenue as a detour around the worksite.

The work will involve removing the asphalt at the railroad crossing and repairing the tracks as needed. New asphalt will be applied when the repairs are completed.
