Lexington officials said they plan for home pickup of paper for recycling to resume next spring. Just over a $4 million upgrade in machinery at the city’s recycling center will allow the facility to once again take clean paper.
That includes office and printing papers, magazines, and newspapers. Starting in March, those can again be placed in the light blue Rosie containers and put out on the curb.
Equipment changes will shut down the Recycling Center for 13 weeks beginning in December.
The plan is to continue door-to-door recycling during that period by hiring a private contractor to haul, process, and market the material.
