City Of Lexington And Jail Administrators Reach Collective Bargaining Contract

Stu Johnson

The City of Lexington has reached an agreement with lieutenants and captains at the Fayette County Jail on a four-year collective bargaining contract. It’s retroactive to July of 2019 and runs through June of 2023.

The contract provides annual pay increases of 1.5% with most officers seeing a 4.5% increase immediately. Pay increases are contingent on approval by the Lexington City Council. A vote is expected on September 16th. Mayor Linda Gorton said corrections managers are a critical part of the public safety team in a job made harder by the pandemic.

Bargaining is underway for the corrections officers at the jail.
