New Management Firm Takes Over Operations of Rupp Arena, Convention Center and Opera House

Stu Johnson

A new manager has been named for Lexington’s Rupp Arena, the expanded convention center, and the Opera House. Lexington Center Corporation made the announcement Tuesday.

LCC unanimously approved a multi-year agreement with Oak View Group Facilities to manage and operate their properties including the 20,000 seat Rupp Arena, the new 200,000 square foot Convention Center, and the 900 seat Opera House.

The Oak View Group has an existing partnership with Lexington Center to focus on event planning for Rupp outside of UK athletics. The new management organization will be responsible for marketing and sales, box office, finance, operations, bookings, and premium seating/VIP experiences for all three properties.

The company will also focus on increasing convention center business. Oak View Group will report to the Lexington Center Corporation and begin managing day to day operations October first.
