Lexington Ready To Open Workforce Resource Center This Week

Stu Johnson

A more community focused approach to increasing employment among Lexington residents is about to start.  The city’s first Workforce Resource Center is scheduled to open this Thursday.

The center, home to eight workforce development partners, is situated in the Charles Young Center on East Third Street.  Business and Workforce Engagement Director Elodie Dickinson told city council members last week the goal is to create an accessible location for a one-stop connection to agencies offering job training and placement.

“This is happening throughout our city right now as we speak.  But, they’re everywhere across the city.  So, the intent is to make it accessible and available at the neighborhood level,” said Dickinson.

Dickinson said the workforce partners are offering services for free.  She added there’s hope a job fair could be held at the Charles Young Center downtown this fall.
