A highly traveled Lexington connector will see a major shift in traffic flow this summer. It’s part of an extensive improvement project along Clays Mill Road.
Work to widen and improve Clays Mill began in 2011. It’s been a section-by-section project. A portion of the heavily traveled drive-time roadway is expected to be closed to through traffic for about two and half months.
Beginning Sunday and running through August tenth, the stretch from Stratford Drive to Pasadena Drive will be restricted to local traffic. Vehicles will be detoured onto Harrodsburg Road using Pasadena and Lane Allen.
The overall project includes widening Clays Mill to three lanes, new curbs, gutters and sidewalks, a new stormwater system, new bike lanes, and planting 250 trees. The final phase is anticipated to be completed by December of 2022.
