en.wikipedia.org

Kentucky State Police continue its investigation into a weekend shooting incident involving a Lexington police officer.  The shooting occurred after police responded to a call of shots being fired on Marshall Lane.

Upon arrival, police reported a subject firing a weapon at an officer who returned fire striking the 21-year-old man in the shoulder.  The officer was not injured.

KSP Sergeant Bernis Napier said the Critical Incidence Response Team is investigating the officer-involved shooting. “We don’t generally have any kind of a timeline of when these investigations will be complete. Obviously, there’s a lot of interviews and evidence collection that goes on with investigations,” said Napier.

Napier noted Kentucky State Police will be releasing the identity of the subject and officer.   In a news release Saturday, police said the subject faced burglary, kidnapping, and wanton endangerment charges.  A Fayette County Jail official said 21- year-old Ryan Dontese Jones is in the detention center.  He’s charged with one count of burglary, nine counts of wanton endangerment, and nine counts of kidnapping.  The police officer was placed on an administrative assignment pending the outcome of the investigation.
