Lexington Public Library Re-opens Monday

lexpublib.org

Starting Monday, Lexington’s downtown Central Public Library will re-open its doors to visitors.

Development Director Ann Donworth says access will be primarily limited to the first floor with holds, popular titles, and computers on that level. “The nature of that building unfortunately with the elevators, being what they are there, it’s much easier if we can keep all of the traffic to the first floor right now,” said Donworth.

Donworth said curbside service and virtual online offerings remain in place.  Library hours are 11:00 to 6:00.

Donworth noted the Kentucky Room on the third floor will be available by appointment only.  She added it’s too soon to say when the entire Main Street location will open up. “As we continue to hopefully go through the orange zone and into yellow we’ll be able to add more and more spaces and capacity,” explained Donworth.

Donworth said a 20 visitor at a time limit will be in place at Central.  That capacity maximum is already found at Beaumont, Eastside, Tates Creek, and Northside branches.
