Coronavirus may be keeping more people and their vehicles off roadways this summer, but the pandemic apparently is not affecting a number of highway maintenance projects.
Lexington drivers could be seeing some resurfacing work on primary arterial roadways. State Transportation Department Spokeswoman Natasha Lacy.
“Milling and paving is something that can be done certainly with social distancing and we are having the milling and paving in effect until July 31st on Tates Creek Road that’s between Duvall and New Circle,” said Lacy.
Lacy said the same type work was conducted on a portion of Nicholasville Road and now sidewalk improvements are being made. Outside the downtown area, Lacy noted maintenance work on the I-75 Clays Ferry Bridge is another summertime activity. The state transportation official added budget constraints are not typically effecting maintenance work this summer.?
