Paid Metered Parking Returns To Lexington

Downtown Lexington parking will come at a cost once again.  The Lexington Parking Authority had been offering free meter parking for more than two months.

Starting next Monday, fees will once again be required to park in metered on-street spots.  For the period running from May 18th through May 29th, all meter revenues collected will be donated to both God’s Pantry food bank and the Bluegrass Community Foundation’s COVID-19 response fund.

This includes coins, cash, credit cards, and meters paid using the Pay by Phone app.  The Lexington Parking Authority plans to maintain its Curbside Pickup locations until further notice.

The free 15 minute spaces have proven beneficial to downtown restaurants with carry out and delivery options.?
