Lexington Mass Transit officials have announced public transportation changes. These modifications come in response to the coronavirus crisis.
Lextran is asking all customers to limit non-essential travel. Beginning Thursday, the public bus system plans to reduce service along eleven routes including Newtown Pike, North and South Broadway, and Richmond Road. Services for the Southland Drive, the airport, and Old Frankfort Pike are being suspended.
Another eleven bus routes will not be affected. The bus system is eliminating fares until further notice, in an effort to speed the boarding process and maximize social distancing. Lextran workers continue to clean and disinfect buses daily with emphasis on high touch areas.?
