Lexington Airport Impacted By Atlanta Airport Power Outage

kentucky.com

The weekend power failure at Atlanta’s airport has effected Delta airline travelers at Lexington’s Blue Grass Airport.

Depending on the day of the week, Spokeswoman Amy Caudill says anywhere from six to nine Atlanta connected Delta planes daily use Lexington airport runways.  She advises travelers to check their scheduled flights into Atlanta and those going to a final destination.

While this is likely to be a busy week at Lexington’s airport, Caudill says it’s an interesting time in terms of flyer numbers. “Christmas is actually interesting because what happens is an airport typically loses its business travelers who make up a larger percentage of our travelers from Lexington, but we also then gain the leisure travelers,”  said Caudill.  “So, in particular Allegiant has a very heavy schedule during the holidays.”

Caudill says it’s like swapping out the business traveler for the leisure traveler over the next couple of weeks.
