Plumbing Problem Creates Holiday Challenges for Potter's House Homeless Center

lexingtonrescuemission.org

A serious plumbing issue is causing problems for one of Lexington’s transitional houses for homeless men.

An official with the Lexington Rescue Mission says the residents will not go without housing this week.

A deteriorating sewer pipe flooded part of the Potter’s House on North Limestone.  It's currently housing 11 men who are trying to get back on their feet.

Rescue Mission Development Director Laura Carr says repairs are being made with hopes of having the problem remedied by Thanksgiving.

Carr says the more than $13,000 cost for repairs comes at a time when the mission is already stretched to meet the needs of an expected 500 people for the Thanksgiving meal.

That’s in addition to the hundreds who come to the outreach center daily for food, clothing, and help finding employment.
