CentrePointe Project Questions Persist at Lexington City Hall

kentucky.com

New developers took over downtown Lexington's CenterPointe project last August, but still no firm construction plan has been released.  The high profile venture came under scrutiny Tuesday at City Hall.  Council member Richard Moloney says he questions the city’s strategy at this point.  “The developers have already given us their recommendation," said Moloney. "I have decided, mayor, this is y’all’s hole."

Mason Miller is the lead attorney for the city on the CentrePointe project and for the consultants studying potential locations for a new city hall. “90 days to study a $200 million problem is not unheard of and it’s not unreasonable," Miller said. "And they’re on budget and their on time."

Miller says it makes sense from a developer standpoint to try to move public opinion for building a new city hall on the CentrePointe site. While developers have indicated an interest housing city hall at the CentrePointe development, the city has made no commitment.?
