Lexington's Woodland Park transforms this weekend into a place bustling with arts and crafts, music, and food.
Final preparations are underway for the 39th Woodland Art Fair.
Lots of orange, numbered markers can be seen Friday covering the green grass at Woodland Park in downtown Lexington. They are there to designate where booths can be set up for artists to display their crafts. Kelly Karbowicz is in charge of events and community engagement with the Lexington Art League. "Well, we certainly got more applicants this year. I think we had about 75 more applicants than we did last year. There's a lot of old faces, but there's also a lot of new faces too, so we have a great variety of artists coming this year," said Karbowicz.
Also setting up Friday afternoon is Randy West from Russell Springs. His booth, 'Zack's Snacks' will feature a variety of items including chicken stir fry, funnel cakes, and fresh squeezed lemonade. "We do this for a living and this is 21 years of doing the concessions. We've been at Woodland Park 17 years," said West.
A shuttle will carry fair-goers from designated parking lots to the park. There's also a bike check for folks traveling on two wheels.
The Woodland Art Fair runs from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
