The childhood home of former First Lady, Mary Todd Lincoln, is normally closed all winter long, but the historic house on Main Street in Lexington is making an exception for this Monday; Presidents Day. Executive Director Gwen Thompson says the staff always put together a youth-oriented program for the holiday. "It's really catered more to the children. It's different from our regular tours which really are more adult-friendly, so this is an experience for the kids and to make museums fun for them."Thompson says they strive to make history come alive for each and every visitor, but especially children on Presidents Day.
"They'll include such things as parlor games, like conundrums, and then we'll have a Lincoln trivia contest in one of the other rooms and a lot of other activities that should be fun for the kids."
The house is open Monday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with free admission for kids in grades K through 12.
