Today’s Interview: Invest 606 founder Geoff Marietta

Invest606.org

Entrepreneurs in eastern Kentucky have the opportunity to showcase their company this weekend. Nine finalists are competing for a $15 thousand dollar prize from Invest 606. Invest 606 is a business accelerator and pitch competition that focused on businesses in eastern Kentucky.

Geoff Marietta is the founder of Invest 606. He explained how the process works.

“The apply and then we have a panel of judges who select the finalists and then those finalists go through a six-month program where they receive training, funding to pay for conferences or mentorship.”

Marietta said the world really should be taking a look at this part of Appalachia.

“Eastern Kentucky is really at this inflection point. It’s diversifying its economy and it has so many amazing assets, incredible natural beauty, really world class biodiversity, great recreation.”

The nine finalists in Invest 606 will be taking part in Demo Day on Saturday. This gives them the opportunity to present to the public without the judges. Demo Day will take place Saturday between 1 and 3 p.m. at The Artstation in Hazard.
