PSA Campaign Launched To Reduce Hesitancy Over COVID Vaccinations

healthy-ky.org

The Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky is coordinating a public service campaign focusing on reducing COVID-19 vaccination hesitancy among black and brown citizens.

The PSA theme is “I Got The Shot To Protect The Ones I Love.”  Delanor Manson is CEO of the Kentucky Nurses Association. “If we can answer more questions.  If we can give people the opportunity to tell us about their concerns and we respond in a respectful way, that will go a long way in helping people to make a good decision to get the vaccine,” said Manson.

Hopkinsville Insurance Agent Tom Bell, who appears in a PSA, said it’s important to have one on one conversations and realize, quote, “We are not an island unto ourself. (sic) This affects people.”

Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky CEO Ben Chandler said the vaccination rate among African Americans has improved.  Chandler says just over 8% of vaccinated Kentuckians are black, about in line with the overall percentage of African Americans across the state.
