UK Requiring On-Campus Students To Get A Flu Shot By November

The University of Kentucky is requiring students who live on or come to campus to get a flu shot by November first.  UK President Eli Capilouto says it’s an attempt to reduce influenza cases during the Coronavirus pandemic.

As part of the initiative, UK campus faculty and staff are strongly encouraged to receive flu vaccinations as well.  UK President Capilouto said, quote, “Our guiding principle throughout the pandemic has been to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of our campus community.”  Getting a flu shot he said is one more step in honoring that principle.

At Eastern Kentucky University, flu shots are encouraged and offered during multiple campus clinics, but not currently required.  Similar recommendations are in place at Morehead State and Kentucky State University.

A representative at the University of Louisville said it’s not required yet, but believes flu shots for on-campus students will be required in the coming weeks.?
