Governor Beshear: Kentuckians Are Helping Keep Coronavirus Cases In Check

Governor Beshear says the total number of new coronavirus cases increased this past week compared to the previous week.  But, the governor still maintains steps like mask use and restricting the personal gathering size have apparently stopped the exponential growth of the virus.

Governor Beshear reported 390 new cases of COVID-19 Sunday.  Three additional deaths were also reported.  State Public Health Commissioner Steven Stack says Kentucky’s mortality rate is 2.1% compared to 3.2% nationally.

Dr. Stack cited efforts to keep the virus from spreading, excellent health care, and more widespread testing than many other states as factors in an effort to prevent deaths.

Still, the public health commissioner said citizens shouldn’t forget that the virus spreads rapidly and is very dangerous.?
