Governor Beshear: More Coronavirus Restrictions Imminent

Governor Beshear is warning Kentuckians to expect a roll back of re-opening policies this week.  The governor’s remarks came after meeting with one of the White House’s top coronavirus advisors.

Governor Beshear said Sunday, quote, “the White House and Kentucky state government are in complete agreement that the escalation of cases is going to require us to take some new steps.”

The governor made these comments after a roundtable discussion which included Dr. Deborah Birx, response coordinator for the White House coronavirus task force.  Birx recommended closing bars and reducing restaurant capacity as a way to lessen the spread of COVID-19.

Governor Beshear said new steps will be announced Monday. The governor reported 316 new coronavirus cases and four deaths Sunday.  Kentucky saw its largest number of new cases a week ago and experienced it’s second highest count Saturday at 836.?
