Kentucky Highway Projects Proceed At Slower Pace Due To Coronavirus

The current coronavirus activity across Kentucky has impacted highway construction projects.

Kentucky Transportation District Seven Spokesperson Natasha Lacy says some projects are running at a slower pace and others have not been initiated.  Lacy said interstates must be maintained for truck traffic. “That’s your food, your cleaning supplies, all the types of things that are essential are delivered by truck to all your retail stores that are still open.  There is still truck traffic, but you don’t have commuters going to work.  You don’t have school buses now.  That type of traffic,” said Lacy.

Lacy noted as of last week, the volume of traffic on Kentucky highways was down 50% for cars and trucks and about 30% for semi-tractor trailers.
