Kentucky’s experience with coronavirus has meant many more people at home during the day. U.S. Postal Service Spokeswoman Susan Wright notes that’s meant increased interactions between mail carriers and household members.
Wright said sometimes it’s involved an encounter with an aggressive dog. “Children may come and open the door and the dog runs right past the child or the children are in the yard playing with the dog and the dog is not on the leash and we’re seeing a little bit of an uptick in attacks on our letter carriers,” explained Wright.
Wright said two mail carriers suffered injuries over the last week in the Louisville area. The postal service representative noted health officials say there’s a low risk of transmission of COVID-19 through the mail stream. Wright added there have been additional protective measures implemented at post office counters.
