Kentucky is making progress in encouraging teens not to smoke, but officials are worried that e-cigarettes are growing in population.
According to a study released Monday about 34 percent of 10th graders reported smoking by the age of 12 in 2004. The figure has now dropped to 11.8 percent.
The report states many teens and young adults aren’t aware that vaping products such as Juul contain nicotine, which is highly addictive.
Van Ingram, executive director of the Office of Drug Control Policy said JUUL use is skyrocketing.
