Ky Firefighters Head West to Help Battle Arizona Wildland Fires

forest.ky.gov

Firefighters from Kentucky’s Division of Forestry are heading west to help battle wildfires in Arizona.

The 15 crew members left Wednesday and are expected to arrive Friday to assist in fighting fires near the city of San Carlos.

The Division of Forestry firefighters left out of London Wednesday as part of a 20-person crew.  Firefighters with the Daniel Boone National Forest and Cumberland Gap National Park are also making the trek west.

There are more than two dozen fires burning in Arizona, affecting thousands of acres and multiple communities.  The U.S. Forest Service notified Kentucky Division of Forestry officials this week of the need for assistance.
