Area grocery stores were crowded over the weekend as people shopped for food and supplies in preparation for the snowstorm. And now, grocery stores are continuing efforts to keep the shelves stocked. Lexington Good Foods Coop General Manager Bill Bickford says a supply truck made a delivery early Monday. "I would imagine some of our suppliers are not gonna come through, but right now on staples we're well stocked,” said Bickford. “We have bread on the shelves. We have milk on the shelves. Things that people would be coming, you know if you're looking for highly specialized items, it's possible we'll miss a few deliveries," he said.
Bickford came to the Lexington store from Texas this past fall. But, he says he grew up with some big snows in Pennsylvania. "I have seen some pretty big snows. That was before I learned to drive. That was before I had my first job, other than a paper route, so dealing with it as an adult where you have to figure out how to get people to work, how to get people home, how you're gonna get deliveries in. That's new to me," added Bickford.
Bickford says the Lexington Good Foods store, located on Southland Drive, closed at 2 p.m. Monday and will reopen at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. ?
