Ky Pyschologist Says Give Thanks for Gratitude

uknow.uky.edu

With Thanksgiving less than 24 hours away, a Kentucky psychologist says there’s increasing research about the benefits of expressing gratitude.

Dr Chrissy Logue is public education coordinator with the Kentucky Psychological Association.

One suggestion she has is to keep a “gratitude journal” to register thankfulness day to day.

“It’s kind of a snowball effect.  You know, you feel better.  Your mind is clearer.  You end the day on a positive note.  You sleep better.  You get up better,” said Logue.  “You feel better the next day, and then it all starts over again.”

Logue says the benefits of gratitude can also be seen as it relates to mood and relational functioning, and physical health.
