Drought Declarations Lifted In All 120 Kentucky Counties

Kentucky officials have removed drought declarations for all 120 counties in the Commonwealth.

Recent rains in many sections of the state have eliminated precipitation deficits and improved stream flows and soil moisture levels.

Precipitation events since October 3rd have helped ease the moderate to severe drought conditions. State Climatologist Stuart Foster said there was a big shift from September to October.  He said the month of October finished as the third wettest on record, easing concerns about drought as winter approaches.

Although drought declarations across the state have been removed, some drought related impacts could persist including a potential lack of winter feed for cattle.?
