In light of recent events surrounding the proposed Bluegrass Pipeline, an official in one central Kentucky county is hoping a community meeting on pipeline use will be informative and not confrontational. Kinder Morgan Energy Partners and MarkWest are proposing to convert a pipeline that runs through Boyle County, from carrying oil and natural gas to natural gas liquids. It's part of a 1000-mile conversion project being considered by federal regulators.
County Judge Executive Harold McKinney is hoping members of the public will come to the January 15th meeting to have their questions answered, saying it’s not intended as a forum for complaints. “It's to get correct information out,” says McKinney, “People ask questions, we'll have some folks here that we think are in a position to tell us the facts of the matter.”
The pipeline traverses 18 counties in Kentucky, including some 20 miles in Boyle County. The meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. on January 15 at the RECC building on South Fourth Street, in Danville. This proposal is separate from the Bluegrass Pipeline Project. That project, put on indefinite hold last April, involved constructing a new line through parts of Kentucky.?
