Lights Expected To Go On This Fall At The EKU Center For The Arts

Eastern Kentucky University President David McFaddin says plans call for raising the curtain again at the school’s Center for the Arts this fall.   The EKU president offered that information in a report to the Board of Regents Thursday.

McFaddin admitted the marketplace for revenue-generating shows is still unknown. “As we look across the nation, whether we look at civic centers or performing arts venues, Broadway is still shut down.  So, there’s a lot of programmatic things that are still will be a bit downstream from that.  But, I am excited about the student programming that we will be able to utilize in the space.  Some of the community programming,” said McFaddin.

McFaddin also announced the intention to conduct an in-person spring commencement this May.    Board Chair Lewis Diaz welcomed the news.  “Our students have worked hard.  They’ve endured much.  They deserve the same experience and recognition that each of us on the board received when we completed our degree,” noted Diaz.

As for the Coronavirus vaccine, President McFaddin said he hopes interested faculty and staff at EKU can get inoculated by the end of the month.
